Campaigns

GREAT Trust’s campaigns are driven by our fundamental mandate and moral authority which emanates from the truism of the equality of man as well as the spirit and letter of the UN Declaration of Human Rights. While they may change from time to time, the following form the current pillars of our campaigns which reflect the deep seated and structural nature of the obstacles that blight the possibility of a more perfect and fulfilling human existence:

1 – New Approaches Campaign: A thought leadership initiative that rejects the hitherto workable but now outdated and ineffective models of race equality and human rights by highlighting the unaccaptable human, economic and social cost of the status quo by advocating for an agenda for change through innovative, creative and impacting interventions with optimum outcomes for global citizens. Status – In Progress by Working Group. Subject to Quarterly Updates.

2 – Anti Scientific and Anti Academic Racism Campaign: A spin off of the successful global Anti-Watson Campaign of fall 2007, this campaign seeks to keep the spotlight on the insidious nature of racism that parades under the guise of scientific and academic research to justify and perpetuate bigotry. A repository will available for whistleblowers to confidently register any incidents, trends and incitement to racial disharmony and human rights abuse.
Status – In Progress by Working Group. Subject to Quarterly Updates.

3 – Campaign for an Ethical Ethnic Monitoring Model: As a result of experiential accounts, GREAT Trust firmly believes that the existing framework for ethnic monitoring based on the notions of White and Black is not only inconsistent but contradicts the principles of equality, diversity and equal opportunities. We either choose a clean approach of either skin pigmentation categorisations of persons or geographical categorisation. First of all the idea of White and Black people is inaccurate, completely false, excludes a significant population of the world, misleading, divisive, oppresive and loaded with baggages of superiority and inferiority complexes. Secondly, not much leverage is given for the right of self-determination. Thirdly, the mainstream framework does not go beyond serving as a box ticking exercise which has confused the vision of a genuinely equal opportunities agenda. GREAT Trust thus advocates for a radically new model of ethical ethnic monitoring framework based mainly on geographic origins e.g. African, European, Asian, Latin American, North American, Australian, Oceana within which identifiable ethnic constituencies are derivable. This campaign also highlights the illegitimacy of some of the imposed labels and offers opportunities for rectifying unjustifiable perjorative designations.

4 - From Race InEquality to One Human Race: This is a unique and rare post-race inequality mission that emphasizes the overwhelming benefits of a One Human Race vision for human kind; noting the preciousness of each and every human life, and the ultimate import of leaving a positive enduring impact to progress human civilisation in one’s life time. It contrasts with the avoidable havoc caused to human civilisation and harmony by regressive tendencies such as by the racist thought police and extremist groups.

5 – Global Citizenship Campaign: In a conflicting era of information technology and globalisation where information and capital travels at the speed of a click, regional and nationalist policy frontiers are on the rise that curtail global citizenship rights. The Global Citizenship Campaign seeks to raise awareness about the dangers imposed by inhuman policy barriers and their associated increasing infringment upon global citizenship rights driven by the conviction that global citizenship rights must be easily manifest to every human being at similar speed as information and capital can travel. In effect the campaign advocates for global citizenship rights to be democratised and promoted through information, education and investment for societal benefit. Other element of the Campaign is the promotion of World Passport to be globally recognised by all governments as a legitimate proof of identification by all global citizens.
Status – In Progress by Working Group. Subject to Quarterly Updates.

6 – Centenary Basic Needs Campaign: This is an advanced of the Milennium Development Goals Program by the UN and advocates for the guarantee of basic needs as the minimum life experience by every human being. We expect this to be guaranteed in tandem with the attainment of human equality as a necessary condition to justify the claims of human civilisation. The GREAT Trust firmly believes in the proposition that societies and generations are judged by the extent to which the vulnerable are protected. We contend that global civilisation is unsustainable and meaningless unless it is able to provide basic needs as a minimum for every global citizen, especially in the light of vast amounts of wealth that are lavishly splashed on frivolity.
Status – In Progress by Working Group. Subject to Quarterly Updates.

7 – Anti- Cyberacism Campaign for the Proscription of All Racist Websites, Publications and Circulation of Materials.
GREAT Trust is of the view that the Information Technology should not be a hiding place for extremists to perpetuate, broadcast and agitate racial hatred. We hold that Information Technology has created abundant wealth and that the industry should be able to invest reasonable amount of returns to clean up toxic sites and materials that circulate through the worldwide web. We campaign that cyber-racism should be included in the top priorities of the enforcement agencies that fight against internet crimes in collaboration with industry providers such as ICANN, hosting companies and IT tycoons.
