GREAT TRUST PRESS RELEASE ON UNITED NATION’S INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – ‘WOMEN AND MEN UNITED TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS’
On the anniversary of the United Nations International Women’s Day, the Trustee Board, Staff and constituencies of the GREAT Trust salute the righteous women of this world and identify with their struggle for gender equality. The theme for this year’s anniversary is ‘Women And Men United to End Violence Against Women and Girls’.
The GREAT Trust congratulates President Barack Obama on the first anniversary of his inauguration as the 44th and first African American President of the United States of America. Within 12 short months, the United States and indeed the world have witnessed courageous leadership in the face of significant uncertainty and fast-changing international economic and political environment.
The GREAT Trust calls for an ethical, sophisticated and inclusively human-friendly treatment of migrants, refugees and migration approach of the world, instead of existing xenophobic orthodoxies of parochial, incomprehensive interventions of ‘Fortress North’ which create hostility towards vulnerable migrants and refugees. Such dividend would tremendously contribute to the advancement of global peace.
